FAQs

What is a Women's Health Clinic?

Our Women’s Health Clinic in Leeds provides advice and support on the following services:

  • Gynaecological concerns
  • Family planning
  • Cervical screening
  • Breast disease
  • The menopause

From our Women’s Health Clinic, you will be able to discuss any symptoms that you may be experiencing with our Consultant Gynaecologist. The Clinic offers testing and extensive health checks where required, along with a detailed discussion of the results.

I'm suffering from the menopause; how can you help?

Our menopause Doctor is based out of our Leeds City Centre Clinic, our menopause Doctor will understand the full extent of your previous medical history and current lifestyle to assess what course of treatment would be the most suitable for you, along with carrying out any relevant tests. Such tests can be carried out at our private menopause clinic in Leeds to ensure that you are accessing the most up to date technology which will provide the most accurate results.

Once the test results have been discussed, you will be given a fully detailed onward treatment plan. You can discuss your options with our menopause specialist. Often, hormone replacement therapy (HRT) is discussed since it is currently the most common used treatment for menopausal symptoms.

What is Hormone Therapy Treatment (HRT)?

HRT is commonly used to relieve symptoms of the menopause, replacing hormones that are at a lower level when you approach the menopause. The main benefits of HRT is that it can help to relieve menopausal symptoms, such as:

  • Hot flushes
  • Night sweats
  • Mood swings
  • Vaginal dryness
  • Reduced libido

From our hormone clinic in Leeds, our menopause specialist can provide HRT to help with the current symptoms that you are experiencing. If you would like to discuss your options, get in touch to book a consultation with our menopause specialist.

Who can take HRT?

Most women can have HRT if they are experiencing symptoms associated with the menopause. Our specialist menopause doctor will discuss your medical history and current symptoms with you to confirm that you are experiencing such symptoms. After carrying out some tests, our menopause doctor will discuss your options and provide a best course of action treatment plan.

HRT may be unsuitable if you:

  • Have a history of breast cancer, ovarian cancer or womb cancer
  • Have a history of blood clots
  • Have untreated high blood pressure – this will need to be controlled before starting HRT.
  • Have liver disease
  • Are pregnant

If you find yourself fitting into any of these circumstances, alternatives to HRT can be recommended at our Leeds hormone Clinic.

Do you carry out cervical smear testing?

From our Women’s Health Clinic, you will be able to have a cervical smear test with a GMC-registered doctor, specialising in Women’s health in Leeds. Once the results have been received, you will be able to discuss the results and treatment options will be made known to you so that you can proceed with the next steps.

Do you provide prescriptions?

If our specialist women’s health Doctors have provided you with a treatment plan that includes medication then our healthcare concierge team based at our Women’s Health Clinic in Leeds will be able to arrange for your prescription to be delivered to your home or workplace as best suits you.
