Men's Health

Andropause is the technical term for the decline in testosterone all men experience as they age. Commonly called the male menopause, andropause typically begins to affect men between the ages of 35 and 40. 50% of men over 60 years of age have low levels of testosterone. On average testosterone levels decrease about 1% yearly after age 50. This decline in hormone levels happen faster or slower based on pre-existing conditions and lifestyle choices.

Testosterone makes men who they are, and influences how they look. Whatever your age, as a man you need testosterone to maintain energy and focus, to build lean muscle, strengthen your bones, boost your sex drive, and to regulate your moods. In other words, the onset and progression of andropause can have a big impact on the quality of your personal and professional life.

  • Fatigue and low energy levels
  • Weight gain, especially around your mid-section
  • Brain fog, inability to think clearly and Difficulty concentrating
  • A significant decrease in sex drive and sexual dysfunction (Penile growth, erections, sperm
  • production, and prostatic growth and function all depend on testosterone)
  • Depression, irritability, anxiety, poor sleep
  • Loss of muscle mass

Health Screening

Heart and circulatory disease remain a leading cause of death and illness in the UK, heart disease being the most common cause of premature death. Today in the UK, 460 people will die of heart or circulatory disease: this equates to one person dying every 3 minutes.

The good news is that there is a lot that can be done to prevent heart disease. The key is to identify those people at risk of heart disease, allowing you to make a more informed decision about reducing your risks. At The Whitehall Clinic, we take your heart health seriously by offering comprehensive screening tests using the latest technology, extensive laboratory diagnostics, and expert medical assessment of the results.

The Whitehall Clinic is the only clinic in the UK that offers the state of the art, non-invasive AGE Reader (hyperlink to pdf on AGE reader) to provide an immediate real time prediction of heart and cardiovascular risk. The AGE Reader has been validated in large scale clinical studies around the world and has been in clinical use for 14 years and used in over 1000 clinics worldwide. The AGE Reader is the answer to quickly, reliably and painlessly measure your cardio-vascular risk. There is no radiation, injections or lengthy hospital investigations involved, as with some other heart screening tests. Book your test today!

The AGE Reader provides an immediate cardiovascular risk prediction for major chronic diseases, such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease and renal failure. The method is convenient, easy to use and validated. The AGE Reader measures tissue accumulation of Advanced Glycation End products (AGEs) by means of fluorescence techniques (skin autofluorescence). AGEs play a key role in the pathogenesis of many age-related diseases, such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease and renal failure. Since the market introduction in 2006, the AGE Reader has been clinical validated extensively in over 250 peer reviewed scientific publications. AGEs are essential biomarkers of metabolic and glycaemic (sugar) stress and have been implicated as causative factors in the progression of a host of age-related diseases, such as atherosclerosis (narrowing of the arteries), diabetes, kidney failure and Alzheimer’s. The level of AGEs in tissue reflects the glycometabolic memory and is a valuable predictor of diabetes and cardiovascular complications.

The Butterfly ultrasound is a groundbreaking ultrasound solution and the world’s only single-probe, whole-body handheld device, powered by Ultrasound-on-Chip™ technology. Butterfly transforms complex processes into one connected system to help you offer better, more efficient care. At The Whitehall Clinic we can assess your heart valves, ejection fration (pumping power of your heart) and the health of your important blood vessels.

We are proud to be the only clinic in the UK that offers CAVI testing. This measures your arterial haemodynamics (the way blood moves through your vessels) to predict your 'vascular age' by measuring arterial stiffness. Which reflects narrowing of your arteries that increases the risk of cardiovascular events such as heart attack and stroke.

The InBody 570 goes beyond traditional body composition analysis measuring fat, muscle and total body water. Total body water data can be divided into intracellular water and extracellular water, values important for understand a user's fluid distribution in medical, wellness and fitness contexts.

Non-Invasive, Pain-Free Testing.

Safe, low-level currents are sent through the body via hand and foot electrodes. The impedance the currents encounter are measured in order to derive body composition. InBody’s BIA technology provides accurate and consistent outputs that are highly correlated with gold standard methods.

Research has suggested that a single blood cholesterol measurement in early adulthood can help predict the risk of developing coronary heart disease or stroke by the age of 75. At the Whitehall Clinic, our cardiac screen will check your full cholesterol profile including HDL, LDL, total cholesterol, triglycerides and more. These results help inform the general health of your heart, blood vessel and overall cardiovascular system. Immediate results with our in-clinic lab test.

Many people know that high cholesterol can be a sign of increased heart risk. However, recently, it has become very clear that a much bigger risk for heart disease is actually inflammation. Doctors now understand that atherosclerosis (fatty build-up in artery walls) is also an inflammatory process. If you have a lot of inflammation in the linings of your blood vessels, this leads to more atherosclerosis. As a result, you are much more likely to develop heart attacks, strokes or need heart bypass surgery, even if your cholesterol is normal. At The Whitehall Clinic, we use advanced in-clinic technology to measure the level of inflammation in your body with a High Sensitivity CRP blood test that is not routinely available on the NHS.
